A major industrial gas producer has upgraded six gas purity analysers to Servomex 4100 models and payback has been achieved in just eight months
Whereas the old instruments required recalibration daily, the Servomex units require only weekly or bi-weekly recalibration. This has reduced the total number of calibration gas cylinders used from 134 to 20 - equating to an annual cost saving in excess of US$22,000.
Labour for recalibration is estimated to have been cut by half, which is worth $50,400 annually.
In addition, avoided maintenance is believed to be saving $7200 per year.
With total annual savings of $80,400 and a project cost - including analysers, installation and start-up - of $49,500, the payback is calculated to be less than eight months.
For many customers undertaking similar upgrade projects, additional benefits will accrue through more tightly controlled processes operating at higher efficiencies.
The 4100 gas purity analyser is able to measure up to four streams simultaneously, including oxygen (O2 - trace, control or purity), and trace carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4).
The analyser has a reputation for delivering long-term reliable stable and accurate measurement and is used worldwide by producers and users of industrial gases.
