Low cost alternative to manual camera systems allows molecular biologists to automatically capture high-quality gel images using a one-button click
Syngene has unveiled its new GeneWizard automated gel analyser, a cost-effective system for laboratories that want quicker, more accurate results when capturing and analysing gels.
GeneWizard, which is based on Syngene's award winning GeneGnome design, comes fully integrated, making its setup and use extremely simple.
The compact system consists of a unique purple cabinet housing a camera, data processor and built-in transilluminator that can accommodate gels of up to 15 x 13cm.
The cabinet has a safety-locked pull out drawer designed to protect users from accidental UV exposure.
The system has been customised to save molecular biologists time by allowing them to automatically capture high-quality gel images using a one-button click, which requires no focusing, zooming or aperture alterations.
Captured images can be viewed on any PC monitor and can easily be downloaded for storage to a computer disc or zip drive. GeneWizard comes with Syngene's image analysis software, GeneTools, pre-loaded.
This means users can save even more time by performing automated molecular weight determination, band matching and other analysis applications from their captured images.
Paul Ellwood, Syngene's sales and marketing director commented: "We are delighted to be able offer GeneWizard at such a competitive price.
The system provides accurate automated results plus great analysis capabilities.
It is an ideal tool for any molecular biology laboratory with a limited budget that needs to generate high-quality DNA gel images."
