Designed for laboratories that routinely image and analyse close bands, this system is said to provide the best resolving power of any budget system on the market today
Syngene, a manufacturer of image analysis solutions, introduces its new InGenius12 gel documentation system.
Designed for laboratories that routinely image and analyse close bands, the InGenius12 is said to provide the best resolving power of any budget system on the market today.
Inside its own compact darkroom with space saving sliding doors, the InGenius12 comes with a 1392x1040 pixel resolution, 12 bit CCD camera and guarantees maximum separation when analysing close banded gels. The system also features Syngene's patented EDR (extended dynamic range) technology upgrading it to 16 bit performance and pixel binning, both of which ensure scientists can capture faint band images making it ideal for accurate sample quantification. The InGenius12's camera and darkroom are easy to control manually.
The system has Firewire technology for simple connection to a PC, without the need for an acquisition board. Without a PC included and a darkroom that can accommodate any benchtop transilluminator, scientists can save money by using existing equipment.
In addition, a built-in filter drawer for adding different filters means the InGenius12 is a flexible and cost-effective purchase.
The InGenius12 also includes free GeneTools image analysis software.
This saves time by automatically locating tracks and bands, as well as correcting for smiling or distorted gels to produce a full analysis in less than eight seconds.
GeneTools can be used for applications such as analysing 1D, 2D and multi-layer gels, band matching, calculating molecular weight and Rf values, and colony counting. Laura Sullivan, Syngene's divisional manager stated: "The InGenius12 is the third budget system we have introduced recently and with our new GeneFlash and DigiGenius5, it makes a choice of great technology accessible to more labs. "The InGenius12 is excellent value as it comes complete with a quality 12 bit camera, darkroom and powerful analysis software, making it perfect for molecular biologists looking for top end specifications at an affordable price."
