High-performance oscilloscope software package that provides an automated compliance testing solution for High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) products
Tektronix, a provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, has announced the availability of the TDSHT3, a new high-performance oscilloscope software package that provides an automated compliance testing solution for High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) products.
The TDSHT3 software is said to be the industry's first package to enable engineers to efficiently perform reliable in-house compliance tests in accordance with the HDMI Compliance Test Specifications (CTS). HDMI is still in an early phase of market adoption, but many industry sources expect HDMI to overtake Digital Visual Interface (DVI) in consumer electronics products such as televisions, set-top boxes and DVD players within the next two to four years. Many companies are now involved in building HDMI receiver and transmitter chips, while others are rushing to include HDMI ports in their products.
As the market for HDMI accelerates, designers need an automated test system to rapidly improve and validate HDMI designs.
Customers will still need to perform final compliance testing at a HDMI authorised test centre, but prior use of the TDSHT3 software provides a much higher probability of a successful outcome.
"TDSHT3 HDMI software enables our customers to perform a wide range of tests efficiently and reliably", said Colin Shepard, vice president, oscilloscope products, Tektronix.
"The Tektronix offering, including the oscilloscope, data time generator, a complete library of test patterns built upon the HDMI CTS framework, and crucial test adaptors, provides customers with the most complete in-house solution for HDMI testing.
"TDSHT3 provides unprecedented ease of use through automation of a wide range of HDMI tests".
Compliance testing is a matter of adhering to rigorous, mandated measurement procedures defined in the CTS document.
The TDSHT3 software running on Tektronix performance oscilloscopes automates many of the tests detailed in the CTS. Conformance to HDMI standards and test specifications ensures reliable results with TDSHT3.
The high level of automation and the need for less manual set-up ensure repeatable results. Accurate eye rendering and precise violation testing ensure reliable eye-diagram tests.
Sophisticated measurement techniques eliminate errors in jitter measurements.
Unprecedented efficiency is achieved with further automation of the signal sources, reducing test times from days to minutes.
The software enables remote control of signal sources, automates sink, source and cable tests and dramatically cuts test times.
Automatic mask-fit measurements and pass/fail notification delivers quick results, and one-button selection of multiple tests ensures faster testing.
Mask margins and statistical information aid analysis to help customers to quickly find answers.
HDMI is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface.
HDMI provides an interface between audio/video source devices, such as set-top boxes, DVD players, and A/V receivers and digital displays, such as (DTVs).
