Thermo LabSystems says its eRecordManager electronic record management software is a breakthrough in analytical record management, reporting, and archiving
Following its acquisition of Galactic Industries in February 2001, laboratory informatics specialist Thermo LabSystems has announced the availability of a revolutionary new product called eRecordManager.
This completely new software system for analytical data management, reporting and archival was previewed for the first time at the recent Pittcon 2001 conference. eRecordManager is designed to meet the unique requirements for storing and sharing analytical data.
It exploits and builds upon Galactic's archive and searching technologies and can be accessed from LIMS, Intranet or other corporate systems. eRecordManager incorporates full application support for compliance with US FDA's Ruling 21 CFR Part 11.
Thermo LabSystems' new product offering provides a data repository for over 150 spectroscopy and chromatography file formats, with secure, automated conversion into a XML-based format for long-term storage and retrieval.
eRecordManager brings two key benefits to the marketplace.
Electronic record keeping allows scientists and analysts to retrieve and display a specific data file at a point in the future, without relying on the original software, operating system and hardware.
This enables organisations to respond more promptly and confidently to regulatory audit requests and to defend against intellectual property infringements more effectively.
Knowledge management: eRecordManager enables the sharing of data files with colleagues for mining, comparison and visualisation, without the requirement for all PCs to have every copy of software installed.
Kevin Smith, director of electronic record management at Thermo LabSystems commented, "This is an extremely exciting development.
The new solution will offer truly effective knowledge management by providing the ability to search, compare and visualise data from many different sources using a common Windows interface.
eRecordManager protects customers' intellectual property to ensure they are able to leverage maximum value from their past and future R and D activities." eRecordManager can also be easily deployed as a web-based solution, allowing users to not only display all spectra and chromatograms, but also to query, search and browse the eRecordManager database using a familiar web interface.
The newly formed Thermo Galactic business will operate from Galactic Industries' former offices in Salem, USA, and focus on its suite of desktop spectroscopy software.
Development of eRecordManager is centered at Thermo LabSystems' UK headquarters at Altrincham.
