Thermo LabSystems announces that IDgene Pharmaceuticals of Jerusalem, Israel is to implement its Nautilus LIMS product to improve management of laboratory activities
Nautilus will support IDgene scientists in identifying the genetic basis of complex traits in the company's main focus areas of diabetes, asthma, cancer, and CNS.
"Nautilus LIMS was selected due to its clear superiority in the genetic field", stated Dr Eyal Rozen, VP of information technologies at IDgene.
Nautilus will support IDgene's high throughput genotyping, data analysis and the company's GLP-standard operations.
Dr Rozen continued: "It is intended that the first phase in the LIMS's deployment will be operative by April 2002 and I am confident we can work with Thermo LabSystems to achieve our deadlines for the implementation".
IDgene anticipates using the LIMS to enhance its operational and quality assurance efficiencies by further automating laboratory operations and enhancing data management capabilities.
Nautilus will be integrated with laboratory instrumentation and will be interfaced to business and logistics systems and decision analytics software.
IDgene Pharmaceuticals, founded in 1999, focuses on identifying the genetic basis of common diseases. IDgene has developed a targeted strategy to position itself as a world leader in population-based gene discovery.
This consists of the use of highly informative populations together with an efficient scientific strategy.
IDgene's research will result in the identification of genes affecting susceptibility to disease.
Its findings will feed the drug discovery pipeline in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies.
Thermo LabSystems claims Nautilus offers the bio-research community new levels of user empowerment, sample traceability and instrument integration. The latest version of the product offers powerful data management capabilities for techniques including cDNA library management, SNP scoring, sequencing, and genotyping.
Nautilus also features advanced functionality for micro-array and microtiter plate handling and sequencer integration.
Nautilus benefits customers in genomics and proteomics through the extraction of information and knowledge from the vast data volumes generated in high throughput experimentation and screening.
The system supports compliance with FDA Ruling 21 CFR Part 11 on electronic signatures and records.
