The availability of SM-PI provides integration between the two solutions to allow the timely delivery of quality data for monitoring purposes and to ensure process integrity.
OSIsoft is a provider of real-time information management software for plant-wide and enterprise-wide monitoring and analysis, vital for the interactive control of production processes.
SampleManager transmits data taken from discrete measurements to PI.
Once the sample has been logged and analysed for the pre-defined test in SampleManager, it can be sent to the PI system in a secure manner using the SM-PI interface. Consequently, a plant engineer or operator can analyse and track data trends, as well as make decisions about data from the different locations throughout the production process.
These results are critical in optimising processes and highlighting problems before they occur.
By sending information directly from PI to SampleManager, the need to re-type recorded information is eliminated, thereby eliminating the risk of errors that may be introduced by manual transcription.
