Thermo LabSystems allies with Compaq Global life science alliance sees Nautlius Lims jointly promoted with Compaq servers to the life science laboratory sector.
Thermo LabSystems has announced that it has formed a global life sciences alliance with Compaq. By equipping Compaq's high-performance server products with Thermo LabSystems' Laboratory Information Management System (Lims) applications, both organisations will be able to further develop their presence in the life sciences sector through joint sales and marketing activities and other alliance initiatives. Thermo LabSystems joins organisations such as Oracle and Lion Bioscience in expanding Compaq's considerable portfolio in life science discovery.
Thermo LabSystems aims to benefit from introductions and referrals to Compaq's customers in both the material and life sciences sectors.
Bill Blake, vice president of Compaq's High Performance Technical Computing group, said "As the leading platform vendor in life sciences discovery, Compaq is delighted to formalise our relationship with an applications vendor such as Thermo LabSystems, which exceeds our criteria as a leading technology vendor, developing and maintaining application architecture that complements Compaq's own hardware strategies and capabilities.
Compaq was impressed by Thermo LabSystems's functionally rich Lims and its commitment to global customer support provided by its multi-disciplinary Pathfinder services operation.
Another factor was the high rate of adoption of Thermo LabSystems' Lims among progressive life science organisations." Thermo LabSystems was ranked as a top ten bioinformatics company in Frost & Sullivan's analysis report on the US bioinformatics market, published in October 2001.
The report referred to Thermo LabSystems's leading product in biotechnology applications, Nautilus Lims.
Nautilus offers the bioresearch community new levels of user empowerment, sample traceability, and instrument integration.
The latest version of the product offers flexible and dynamic capabilities for micro-array and microtiter plate handling and advanced sequencer integration.
