Validation kits provide test scripts, functional specifications, design specifications, and static data sets to load test script data
Thermo LabSystems announces the release of Software Validation Kits for versions 2000 and 2001 of its SampleManager laboratory information management system.
The Validation Kits provide a valuable resource for the deployment of SampleManager in regulated environments.
The kits consist of the following elements: test scripts, functional specifications, design specifications, and static data sets to load test script data. For the first time, the test scripts kits have been issued in both standard PDF and Microsoft Word versions, in response to customer requests.
While the PDF version is ideal for SampleManager deployments with no customisation, the Word version allows for easy editing, inclusion of additional tests and integration into customers' own validation process.
Other new features of the Validation Kits over previous versions include: An HTML front end offering a familiar, user-friendly interface.
This includes a matrix between functional specifications and the test approach (see screenshot), allowing a user to select a specific test approach and find out immediately how that functionality operates.
Provision of data sets in the form of CSV (comma separated value) files.
This means that, when a user runs a batch file, all data is loaded automatically to give a potential time saving of up to 20% when running scripts. The inclusion of the SampleManager design specifications provides the user with a complete view of the Lims architecture, which is of major value in the validation process.
Though not directly related to the Validation Kits, SampleManager product releases now ship with an automated IQ (installation qualification) test. This means that a task that could previously take a Lims administrator up to four hours to perform can now take as little as 20 minutes.
