Thermo Electron presents latest informatics advances at Drug Discovery Technology 2003 congress in Boston, USA
Thermo Electron says it will be exhibiting new advances with its suite of laboratory informatics solutions at the Drug Discovery Technology 2003 congress, taking place at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, USA from 10-15 August.
In addition to supporting compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, Thermo's suite of systems equip researchers with the knowledge to generate leads, terminate flawed projects early, and make more informed decisions.
The informatics business of Thermo Electron, formerly doing business separately as Thermo LabSystems and Thermo Galactic, will focus booth presentations in Boston on its Nautilus Lims and the eRecordManager solution for data archival and knowledge management.
Launched in 2002, eRecordManager is Thermo's award-winning solution developed to help customers to capture, store and index large volumes of original raw instrument data, reports and documents, while also converting the content of these records for storage as technology neutral Gaml (Generalised Analytical Markup Language) files.
Gaml is a new file format based on XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language) for the archiving of analytical data.
The latest version of eRecordManager (version 2002 release 2) provides customers with a host of new features to enhance security of electronic records and further improve system ease of use.
Adding to an extensive library of Gaml converters, eRecordManager now offers conversion for file formats including Applied Biosystems/MDS Sciex Analyst, Dionex Chromeleon CDS (chromatography data system), and Thermo's own Multichrom CDS.
Another highlight of eRecordManager 2002 R2's new features is an application-type wizard that offers easy system setup for data capture and conversion of file formats from a large number of common applications.
Nautilus Lims offers a number of new features that deliver increased flexibility in the processing of microtiter plates, and enhancements to Nautilus's XML capabilities to offer powerful integration advantages.
Also, Nautilus's new result browser provides users with a visualisation tool for the presentation of plate and aliquot results, and enables the dynamic querying of results and subsequent review in either tabular or graphical format, within a highly user-friendly interface.
As a result of a collaborative product integration project with IBM Life Sciences, Thermo will also be presenting a new enterprise-wide hierarchical storage solution for analytical data based on the integration of eRecordManager and IBM's Tivoli storage manager product.
The new joint solution is being developed to meet the challenge of making electronic records highly accessible and searchable, while minimizing the cost of long term archival through a wide variety of offline storage media.
The annual Drug Discovery Technology congress is the premiere event for drug discovery researchers and business executives to evaluate and understand the latest advances and information in drug discovery.
Attracting more than 6000 attendees annually, the event exhibit hall showcases the newest technologies, instrumentation, and products that are driving the drug discovery field.
Thermo Electron is on booths 2332 and 2434 at DDT.
