Low angle light scattering polymer characterisation technology can be added to any commercial GPC/SEC system equipped with a concentration detector
Lals detection on an entry level system Entry level access to advanced polymer characterisation technology can be added to any commercial GPC/SEC system equipped with a concentration detector. Viscotek has announced that its model 270 dual detector can now be configured as a stand-alone low angle light scattering (Lals) detector.
Previously only available on Viscotek's Triple detection system, Lals detection is now available on an entry level system.
This means that for a wide range of synthetic polymers, natural polymers and proteins researchers can make routine direct determination of absolute molecular weight on the model 270.
Unlike multi-angle light scattering techniques that can only determine molecular weight by extrapolation, the model 270 Lals measures molecular weight directly and thus is inherently more accurate.
Incorporating patented optical technology that will effectively operate at an angle of only 7deg the Lals detector represents a major breakthrough in light scattering technology.
The model 270 may also be configured with an additional differential viscometer providing valuable further information including molecular size, density and conformation as well as providing structural data such as branching and aggregation.
Providing a clear upgrade path without redundancy the model 270 configured with Lals and viscometry detector can be added to any commercial GPC/SEC system equipped with a concentration detector, instantly converting it into a powerful triple detector system.
