Claiming to be the first end-to-end ultra performance liquid chromatography system offering specially designed column chemistries, hardware, software, and documentation
Waters says that laboratory productivity is shifting gears and moving into the fast lane now that it is shipping its novel Acquity ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) instrument in volume to customers.
"The aspects that scientists like best about UPLC are that the principles of the separation are identical to LC, and that the chromatographic performance is significantly better", said stated Art Caputo, president Waters chromatography division.
"In the race to bring products to market faster, it promises to give our clients a significant competitive advantage.
"Researchers who have looked into Acquity UPLC have told us this is a remarkable achievemen".
UPLC is considered by many to be the next big thing in LC, taking the practice of LC to new performance levels. Waters claims to be the first company to introduce an end-to-end UPLC system offering specially designed column chemistries, hardware, software, and user documentation and train its field service professionals to support various applications for UPLC, a new form of LC made possible by new column technology.
Introduced at Pittcon 2004 in March, Acquity UPLC is a first-of-its-kind LC system designed to take full advantage of the potential of proprietary, sub two-micron particles to give scientists chromatographic run times that are much shorter than today's fastest HPLC systems, with better peak capacity or resolution, and better routine sensitivity.
