A new family of portable intelligent paperless recorders configured to carry out steriliser testing in compliance with HTM2010/2030 requirements
The 20-channel MV220/HTM and the six-channel MV106/STR are supplied by Yokogawa Martron with purpose-designed transducers, and incorporate a dedicated software package known as Midas which automatically carries out calculations on sterilisation and equilibration times as well as saving the results at the end of each cycle.
Other features of the ISO 9001 manufactured instruments include digital and trend displays and easy setting functions for speed and convenience of use.
A floppy disk facility provides removable electronic storage of recorder configuration and calibration settings.
A PCMCIA flash memory card or 100 Mbyte Zip drive are available as options.
The HTM2010 standard gives guidance on the choice, specification, purchase, installation, validation, periodic testing, operation and maintenance of the types of steriliser commonly found in the National Health Service.
It includes detailed schedules and procedures for tests and checks to be carried out for commissioning and performance qualification and for subsequent periodic testing, all of which require detailed measurement, logging and time/date recording of temperature and pressure parameters.
HTM2030 provides similar guidance for the types of washer/disinfector commonly found in the NHS.
Accurate and validated recorders are a key requirement for such tests.
The MV220/HTM provides 20 continuous input channels: 18 for temperature and two for pressure, while the MV106/STR has six continuous input channels: three for temperature, one for pressure and two spare.
The recorders are supplied complete with a purpose-designed pressure transducer, powered by an integral power supply, and connections are provided for standard type T thermocouples for temperature measurement.
The instruments' built-in intelligence makes them easy to reconfigure for other measurement tasks or to comply with any required changes in standards and recording format.
Electronic storage of configuration changes provides a quick and easy method of restoring the steriliser program when required.
A special sensor connection function ensures that the calibration procedures required to comply with the HTM standards are quickly and easily accomplished without the need for screwdriver adjustments and without upsetting the fundamental calibration of the instrument. The calibrated setup data can be saved to confirm that the calibration procedures have been correctly followed prior to testing, providing a documented quality audit if required.
The digital data scanning system stores the measured channel data, date, time and file name as a tamper-proof binary file, which can be opened using the Midas report software or viewed and analysed using Yokogawa1s Data Viewer software.
It can be easily imported into commercially available spreadsheets.
The instruments have an ethernet interface for data collection over a network as standard, with RS232 as an option.
Each recorder can act as an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client or server, and features e-mail sending and web monitoring functions.
The MV220/HTM measures 283 x 300 x 285mm and weighs 9.9kg, while the MV106/STR measures 142 x 192 x 273mm and weighs 4.6kg.
