Bioscience division will address the requirements of scientists throughout the world by providing innovative tools for genomic and proteomic applications
Axygen Scientific, a privately owned biotechnology company, was established in 1993.
During the past 11 years, Axygen says it has realised 'phenomenal' growth in sales of consumable plastic products used in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
Axygen's products are used in the areas of PCR, HTS, as well as general use products for life science research laboratories.
The company is a wholesaler and its products are, at present, sold in 80 countries around the world.
It says its success is the result of product uniqueness, quality and unparalleled service.
In 2004 it supplemented the growth of its foundational product lines with the acquisition of complementary manufacturers in the life science market.
In April 2004, it acquired Labnet International, based in Edison, New Jersey.
Labnet is a manufacturer of laboratory equipment such as state of the art imaging systems, pipettors, centrifuges, and shakers.
In August 2004, Axygen acquired V-Gene Biotechnology, a manufacturer of DNA and RNA purification kits.
V-Gene is located in China.
Axygen says it continues to aggressively seek further acquisitions in the future.
In 2005 it is further increasing its presence in the marketplace by introducing its new division, Axygen Biosciences.
Axygen Bioscience will address the requirements of scientists throughout the world by providing innovative tools for genomic and proteomic applications.
These products include nucleic acid and peptide purification kits, markers, crystallography plates, sealers, reagents, software, databases, and equipment, as well as high-throughput laboratory robotics and automation platforms.
