Bioarray features a new multi-assay chamber that allows up to 16 samples to be processed in parallel on every slide, for the high throughput needs of ADME/toxicology studies in drug discovery
GE Healthcare announces the addition of the CodeLink Adme rat 16-assay bioarray to its CodeLink range.
This bioarray features a new multi-assay chamber that allows up to 16 samples to be processed in parallel on every slide, making it ideal for the high throughput needs of Adme/toxicology studies in drug discovery.
The CodeLink Adme rat bioarray is a gene expression profiling bioarray designed specifically for drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (Adme) and toxicology studies in the rat model system.
Every slide of the CodeLink Adme rat 16-assay bioarray has 16 arrays, each containing over 1200 carefully selected and functionally validated oligonucleotide probes targeting unique and well-characterised genes involved in Adme processes.
"This new bioarray will help researchers predict a compound's toxicity and pharmacokinetic profile with greater accuracy," said Chockalingam Palaniappan, head of R and D in the molecular diagnostics division of GE Healthcare.
"This will allow elimination of compounds with excessive toxicity early in the drug discovery process, so that the overall cost of drug development can be reduced.
"The high throughput capability of the system will enable researchers to meet the challenge of the huge number of targets and candidates per target revealed by new technologies.
"Moreover, the product format is amenable to robotic handling and automation for robust assay processing and higher throughput needs".
The CodeLink Adme rat 16-assay is the first CodeLink catalogue product to offer 16 assays per slide, but the same format will be available for any custom bioarray products, says GE Healthcare.
The new bioarray is fully compatible with the existing CodeLink system including instruments, reagents and accessories.
New processing protocols and software for data analysis have been developed specifically for this product.
CodeLink Expression Analysis software has been improved and upgraded for analysis of this multi-assay bioarray format.
Version 4.1 is available for use with this bioarray and all other bioarrays in the CodeLink range.
