A complete way to automate many laboratory workflows to manage information, collaboration and automate other laboratory processes
Scientific Software (SSI), makers of chromatography data systems and enterprise content management systems, announces the release of its Business Process Manager (BPM) for the laboratory.
Based on its powerful ECM technology, the BPM provides laboratories with a complete way to automate many laboratory workflows to manage information, collaboration and automate other laboratory processes.
Scientific Software's BPM is a .Net multi-threaded Windows application that can be easily deployed in a laboratory to activate and execute workflow templates, execute workflow tasks, manage work queues, schedule workflow actions and report status.
In the laboratory, BPM with the OpenLab framework can be used to automate the routing, review, and signoff of results from SSI's OpenLab laboratory software framework.
Results can be protected from access and alteration so that they are systematically and automatically routed to designated lab groups for review and signoff.
BPM could also be used with OpenLab's instrument maintenance capabilities so that the more than 290 different instruments controlled by OpenLab can be scheduled for maintenance activities.
The BPM can notify users when a maintenance task (ie, replace detector lamps, replace column, etc) needs to be performed, present appropriate documents and SOPs for review, and even display electronic forms to let users document task completion.
Based on Microsoft Visio 2003, the BPM Designer can create templates based on laboratory activities without specialised programming.
A simple drag and drop user interface in the BPM Template Designer lets laboratory create BPM processes to address a wide range of laboratory operations.
