New facility goes live as company continues to expand as a supplier of chemical and biological sensor systems in the threat detection markets
Sionex Corporation has moved to new, larger office and laboratory facilities.
The move to the new 1860m2 facility was needed to accommodate the company's growing workforce and operations as it continues to expand and commercialise its microDMx sensor for chemical and biological detection.
"We are excited to have moved to our new facility which offers Sionex considerably more space for multi-use offices, laboratories and R and D space as we continue to meet our customers increasing demands for our sensor systems," said Wes Davis, Sionex's president and CEO.
"Our customers are telling us that our technology enables them to offer products with orders of magnitude improved sensitivity and selectivity which they are marketing in the defence, homeland security and first responder markets worldwide".
Sionex's microDMx technology consists of a micro-fabricated chip that operates at atmospheric pressure and acts as a programmable chemical filter allowing specific chemical and biological compounds to be detected and identified.
Currently OEMs such as Varian and Thermo Electron have incorporated Sionex's microDMx sensor systems into their end-user products for petrochemical and explosive trace detection applications.
Sionex also has microDMx evaluation units with a number of major OEM manufacturers and institutions which are looking at its potential use for process control, building security, chemical and biological threat detection as well as medical diagnostics and life science applications.
