Spot cutter has the capacity to excise up to 600 spots per hour from up to four precast gels simultaneously, with no danger of the gels drying out before the complete excision process is finished
Bio-Rad Laboratories introduces the EXQuest spot cutter system for the automated excision of both 1D and 2D electrophoretic gels.
EXQuest has been designed to offer the ultimate in spot cutting performance at a very affordable price, allowing researchers greater access to automated spot cutting robotics than ever before.
The new EXQuest spot cutter has the capacity to excise up to 600 spots per hour from up to four precast gels simultaneously and, says Bio-Rad, with automated gel hydration there is no danger of the gels drying out before the complete excision process is finished.
The new robotics and vacuum assisted spot pick-up generates pick-up rates in excess of 99.5%.
EXQuest is equipped with a new 12-bit cooled CCD camera and is able to image and excise from both colorimetric and fluorescent Sypro Ruby stained gels.
Cutting of backed and free gels is possible with the EXQuest as is the excision of proteins from nitrocellulose and PVDF membranes.
Protein can be excised from both 1D and 2D gels as EXQuest is fully integrated with the Quantity One and PDQuest software packages, which facilitate the comprehensive analysis of 1D and 2D gels respectively.
