Electrophoresis specialist Scie-Plas says it is developing and improving its service with the launch of a new conference and laboratory training facility for training purposes, where the company will also be able to showcase its full product range and trial newly developed products.
The facility is available for both direct end user customers who are new to electrophoresis, and also to the large dealer network through which the Scie-Plas range of products are sold worldwide.
For people new to electrophoresis, two-day hands-on courses are being run by the widely respected electrophoresis expert Dick Barker.
Barker was one of the founders of Scie-Plas, and now provides a consultancy service to the company.
He has been involved in all forms of electrophoresis throughout his life and these courses are an opportunity for him to pass on his considerable expertise to a new generation of life scientists.
To ensure that the tuition is both informative and to allow individuals to gain optimum benefit of hands-on experience, each course is limited to a maximum of five people.
Initially these are planned for one course per month, starting in June 2005, but will be increased to meet demand.
The course will cover basic electrophoresis techniques, involving the separation and visualisation of both DNA and proteins, and will include the use of an extensive range of Scie-Plas electrophoresis equipment, as well as all the chemicals and reagents required for these techniques.
The laboratory component of the facility will be fully functional, allowing for gel preparation, gel running and gel documentation, enabling the attendees to take a permanent record of the gels run.
In addition, the facility is also available to the Scie Plas dealer network for hands-on training, providing them the opportunity to maximise their understanding of electrophoresis and receive training on both current and newly developed products.
