Every year, a panel of experts judges a selection of German medium-sized companies that are competing to win the highly coveted Top100 award
This year's Top 100 prize in the Innovative Processes and Organisation category has been awarded to Kruss, a Hamburg-based firm specialising in surface tensiometry and contact angle measuring instruments.
In addition to their processes and organisation, Nikolaus Franke, head of the entrepreneurship and innovation department at the renowned Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, assessed the 192 entrants in terms of the attitude of senior management to innovation, the climate of innovation and the marketing of innovations.
Compamedia, the organiser of the competition, highlighted Kruss's exemplary handling of all stages of the innovation process and its fruitful collaborations with other companies and academic institutions as the decisive factors in its victory.
The latest innovation to emerge from this process - the EDM/ODM module for surface-rheological measuring - combines Kruss's applications expertise with the scientific know-how of the team of researchers working under Professor Ivanov at the University of Sofia.
Managing director Alexander Bunz accepted the award on the company's behalf from project patron Lothar Spath in Berlin on 22 June 2005.
"This prize is a tremendous source of pride for us and proves that it is worth investing in creativity and innovation", he commented.
