Sonication system is brought into contact with the lid and the sonic energy is transferred into the sample through the pins which are therefore activated simultaneously
SonicMan is a sonication system in the microtitre plate format which can be used to re-suspend freezed compound plates, mix small volumes in 384 or 1536 plates for high throughput screening, shear genomic DNA into small fragments for PCR amplification, extract target proteins, RNA/DNA, use cell lysis and membrane disruption to extract target proteins, RNA/DNA and enzymes without using harsh chemicals or detergents, using Sonication avoids using heat or shaking to redissolve compound, the former can often damage the sample and the latter can fail due to the high surface tension in the plate well.
SonicMan technology is based on a patented lid which has a series of pins through it depending on the format of the plate, eg 96, 384 or 1536.
The correct lids are placed automatically on the microtitre plates and the pins go into the cavities.
The lids are disposable to prevent cross contamination.
The sonication system is brought into contact with the lid and the sonic energy is transferred into the sample through the pins which are therefore activated simultaneously.
The entire system is enclosed and the plates can be fed manually or automatically with the controlling software.
The software also allows the user to pulse the sonication thereby minimising heat build-up in the sample.
