NextGen Sciences has announced the appointment of James Heffernan as the company's new chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect
James Heffernan has over 20 years experience in the global life science market and joins NextGen Sciences from Upstate where he held the position of managing director, Europe.
Previously Heffernan held senior executive positions with Sigma-Aldrich and Promega.
Speaking for the board of directors, David Wigley, NextGen Sciences's chief operating officer, said, "We are delighted to have Dr Heffernan join our management team at this critical time in the company's development.
"He is a successful and experienced executive and will work with the management team to continue NextGen Sciences's success".
Heffernan commented: "I am extremely pleased to be joining NextGen Sciences.
