Micro and nanotechnology company developing microfluidics and lab-on-chip has entered the Dutch Deloitte Technology Fast 50 at 13th position
Describing itself as the world market leader in developing and fabricating glass microchips, Miconit Microfluidics was ranked highly thanks to its strong turnover growth.
Over the period of 2000-2004, turnover grew with no less than 1157%.
Micronit Microfluidics designs, develops and fabricates microfluidic chips and lab-on-a-chip applications.
The principal material used for these chips is glass.
CEO Micha Mulder: "The materials and technologies we offer enable our customers to develop next generation laboratory equipment, which is faster and better and uses fewer reagents.
"All these aspects result in decreased cost per analysis for the end user.
"Our chips are already used by different pharmacists for developing new medication.
"They are also used for fast DNA and blood analyses".
Since the establishment in 1999, Micronit Microfluidics has been in a constant annual turnover growth of 80-90%.
2005 is expected to show substantial growth, too.
Mulder: "The Technology Fast 50 is principally dominated by IT companies.
"Among these IT companies we operate in a unique line of business: the one of micro and nano technology.
"The continuous growth of Micronit shows that there is a strong market for our products.
"Some of our customers already purchase our chips in high volumes, and we expect more of our partners to do this".
Deloitte Technology Fast 50 awards are an objective ranking and celebration of the 50 fastest-growing high-technology companies.
Fast 50 is based on a five year cumulative turnover history of a company, on the condition that a company has had a turnover of euro50,000 in its basic year.
The 2005 ranking was topped by the IT company MarketXS, followed by the stock noted IT company TomTom.
