Application note shows the analysis of chlorite, chlorate and perchlorate in a forensic explosion residue by ion chromatography/mass spectrometry (IC/MS) coupling
Determination of chlorite, chlorate and perchlorate in explosion residue applying IC/MS coupling.
Homeland security requires a large number of analytical tools for the identification and analysis of forensic explosion residues.
The use of ion chromatography is an integral part of this analytical task.
Application Note M-2, from Metrohm, shows the analysis of chlorite, chlorate and perchlorate in a forensic explosion residue by IC/MS.
The method uses the Metrosep A Supp 5-100 column with a dedicated LiOH eluent and the addition of an organic solvent.
The method yields short analysis times with still optimal separation of the ions of interest.
Both conductivity and mass selective detection results are shown.
