Best of California award for demonstrated excellence in project delivery goes to California Department of Health Services (CDHS) for implementation of Starlims at the Richmond Laboratory Complex
Starlims, a provider of laboratory information management systems (Lims), has congratulated the California Department of Health Services (CDHS) for receiving the 'Demonstrated Excellence in Project Delivery - Best of California Award'.
CDHS received the award in recognition of its implementation of Starlims software in the Richmond Laboratory Complex, the tertiary public health lab for the state of California.
"We are delighted to see CDHS receiving this much-deserved recognition," said Jeff Ferguson, chief operating officer at Starlims.
"The success of this project reflects the commitment and hard work of key CDHS managers, and the leadership of Chris Cruz, senior project manager.
"We congratulate Cruz and CDHS on their achievements and look forward to continued collaboration".
Best of California awards are designed to recognise California government agencies for 'efforts and innovations to advance service to the citizen via the use of technology'.
They are awarded by the Center for Digital Government, a US national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government.
Starlims delivers a comprehensive Lims for the Richmond Laboratory Complex (RLC).
The new Starlims integrates all RLC laboratory activities into a single platform - which interacts with the state's Cahan, ELR and WebCMR initiatives to provide easily accessible data for informed decision-making.
Replacing several legacy systems, it incorporates input from over 110 instruments and a workflow for approximately 200 tests.
Starlims software serves about 100 lab technicians and scientists in five laboratories.
The California Department of Health Services (CDHS) Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC) in collaboration with the University of California Davis Health System is one of the largest departments in US state government, with over 5000 employees working in its Sacramento headquarters and over 60 field offices throughout the state.
As part of its mandate, the CDHS administers a broad range of public and clinical health programmes that provide health care services to Californians.
The Richmond Lab Complex (RLC) is the tertiary public health lab for the state of California.
It serves as a reference lab for the 39 regional public health labs as well as for the testing of reportable disease specimens from private hospital and commercial labs.
Starlims is a provider of laboratory information management systems (Lims).
