Elcometer has signed a contract of intent with James West to undertake a 3240m2 construction project ito expand its production capacity in Manchester, England
The UK facility, which not only manufactures Elcometer's range of coatings inspection equipment but also its range of concrete inspection and metal detection products, is being doubled in size to meet the growth in demand - less than three years after the successful acquisition of three companies across Europe.
"Before we made the decision to buy in Europe, we had plans to expand the Manchester factory by 50%," said Ian Sellars, managing director.
"Ffour years on we are now building an extension twice the original size - simply to help satisfy the needs of customers".
Building works will commence on 9 January 2006 and Elcometer will move in by the end of the year.
Elcometer has been in a period of sustained growth for a number of years and, in addition to the UK construction project, plans are being drawn up to build a new production facility in Belgium to manufacture its complete range of physical test equipment - due to begin construction within 12 months.
Elcometer will also be moving into new, purpose built offices in France, before the end of the fiscal year.
Elcometer manufactures high quality inspection equipment, with specialised divisions dedicated to coatings inspection, concrete inspection, industrial metal detection and SPC.
