With revenues rising rapidly (over 80% in 2005), TTP LabTech, supplier of automation for drug discovery, has taken over White Carbon, a software developer for the pharmabiotech industry
Both organisations are owned by parent company the Technology Partnership (TTP) and the merger follows the successful integration of Acumen Bioscience with TTP LabTech in 2003.
With products for compound storage (Compound), nanolitre liquid handling (Mosquito) and cell-based assays (Acumen Explorer) as well as bespoke automation, TTP LabTech has a growing number of installations in the global biopharma industry.
White Carbon's Pathways workflow design and laboratory management software will be an additional aid to the integration of TTP LabTech's products with customers' existing automation systems.
"For some time now, we have collaborated with White Carbon on a range of projects including automated chemistry systems and on integrating our existing products" said Jas Sanghera, TTP LabTech's commercial director.
"Pathways was developed specifically to simplify the integration of different robotic platforms.
"So with the new automation and software integration package, TTP LabTech is able to offer customers a wider range of integration".
Developed in conjunction with GSK, Pathways is a workflow design and laboratory management system for life sciences.
It tracks and records everything that passes through workflows, which can be fully automated, and provides a real-time workflow view, effectively bringing the laboratory to the desktop.
All software development is based upon Gamp guidelines for automated manufacturing practice.
