Anachem has introduced the Midori Green DNA Stain, said to have none of the hazards traditionally associated with using ethidium bromide stain for detecting nucleic acid in agarose gels.
Midori Green is as sensitive as ethidium bromide and can be used in exactly the same way for agarose gel electrophoresis.
When bound to DNA or RNA, Midori Green DNA Stain emits green fluorescence.
It is compatible with a variety of gel reading instruments due to having one strong excitation peak centred around 500nm and two secondary fluorescence excitation peaks (300 and 400nm).
The fluorescence emission is centred around 540nm.
Midori Green DNA Stain is non-carcinogenic and, according to the Ames test, it causes significantly fewer mutations than ethidium bromide.
In addition to Rainin products, Anachem supplies and services a range of laboratory equipment and consumables from other manufacturers.
