Biotools' Gelification technology is an exclusive method for the stabilisation of biomolecules and complex reaction mixtures in molecular diagnostics and personalised medicine applications.
The company has recently received a Notice of Allowance from the US Patent and Trade-mark Office (USPTO) for a patent application for the technology.
Gelification consists of a process where all components of enzymatic reactions are stabilised at room temperature by the addition of stabilisation agents.
The technology allows users to work under the 'one-tube, one-reaction' and 'ready-to-use' concepts, saving time with reduced handling and the risk of cross contaminations, enabling amplification reactions in places not meeting the usual requirements for molecular diagnostic procedures.
As a result, Gelification technology enables the development of point-of-care diagnostic systems and other portable devices.
