Sartorius Stedim Biotech has developed the Sartocon Eco series of ultra-filters for biotechnological and pharmaceutical purification processes.
The ultra-filters are said to be suitable for the manufacture of vaccines and monoclonal antibodies.
Sartocon Eco is based on Hydrosart ultra-filter technology that uses stabilised polymer membranes based on hydrophilic regenerated cellulose.
Hydrosart membranes enable high yields by minimising protein binding to the membrane and are therefore virtually non-fouling.
As Sartocon Eco ensures high stability under strongly alkaline conditions and over wide temperature ranges, it is not only straightforward to clean but also reusable even after several cleaning cycles, reducing operating costs, according to the company.
In addition, Sartocon Eco filters provide constant process performance, allowing process parameters to be maintained in existing cross-flow systems.
Sartocon Eco ultra-filters will be available in Slice, Sartocon and Sartocube formats for preferred nominal molecular weight cut-offs of 10kD, 30kD and 100kD in a cassette design.
