Last month, YSI was given the opportunity to compete in the Lion’s Lair competition at Lab Innovations.
Lab Innovations took place at Birmingham’s NEC on the 7th and 8th of November.
According to the company, one of the highlights of the show was the ‘Lions’ Lair’ competition, where YSI was one of the four competitors presenting their new products to a panel of judges.
During the event, YSI showcased its 2950 Biochemistry Analyser to its key markets such as bioprocessing and fermention control, food and beverage and biofuels.
Combining measurement technology with the latest in automated sample handling, YSI launched the 2950 into its product portfolio, in September 2012.
The 2950 is part of the 2900 Series of biochemistry analysers and can measure a wide range of important chemistries, such as sugars and nutrients for critical bioprocess monitoring and fermentation control, biofuels, including renewable jet fuel, production and research, Food & Beverage processing and clinical blood chemistry.
The key to generating analyte-specific results in one minute or less is YSI’s biosensor technology. Using the inherent specificity of enzymes for a single target analyte, YSI’s proprietary immobilised enzyme electrodes allow a rapid, accurate and largely interference free measurement to be made.
The YSI 2900 Series is a flexible, modular platform with a range of configurations, options and accessories to meet laboratory needs.
The base platform is the YSI 2900 with the 2950 platform being configurable with up to 3 sensor modules capable of measuring up to 6 chemistries from Glucose, Lactate, Glutamine, Glutamate, Xylose, Ethanol, Methanol, Sucrose, Galactose, Lactose, Choline, Glycerol (NEW!) and Hydrogen Peroxide. plus ISE measurement of Ammonium and Potassium.
The 2900 series of biochemistry analysers come with integrated auto sampler, unique anti-clogging design, flexible sampling and connectivity.
Calibrator and buffer bottles have optional reagent level sensing and the 2900 Series can accept a wide range of sample holders, including 96 well plates, 4, 8 and 24 place test tube holders and microcentrifuge tubes.
The sipper needle is capable of piercing and sampling from a range of films available to seal 96 well plates.
The large, icon-driven touch screen and on-board training videos make operation simple and the screen is programmable in a number of foreign languages.
