Atlanta-based microscopy firm MVA Scientific Consultants has joined the American Council of Independent Laboratories (Acil)
Founded in 1937, Acil is the US trade association representing professional services firms engaged in scientific testing, product certification, consulting, and research and development.
MVA Scientific Consultants will be formally inducted into the organisation during Acil's 2006 mid-winter meeting in Washington DC.
"We are delighted to welcome MVA Scientific Consultants to membership," says Acil executive director Joan Walsh Cassedy.
"It's clear that they ascribe to Acil's core values of quality business practices, community and sharing, growth of the laboratories and the individuals involved, and advocacy," Cassedy added.
"We are very excited about joining Acil", says Tim B Vander Wood, co-founder and executive director of MVA Scientific Consultants.
"The organisation has a long track record in promoting the interests of independent scientific firms like ours and we look forward to working with Joan Cassedy and the organisation, " said Vander Wood.
MVA Scientific Consultants focuses on microscopy - the practice of utilising powerful microscopes to study objects too small to see with the unaided eye.
From potato chips to microchips, MVA Scientific Consultants says it has been a leading authority in the field of microscopy and has worked with or advised hundreds of scientific, business and governmental leaders from corporate America to Congress.
The firm is ISO/IEC 17205 accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA); Lelap accredited by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Laboratories as well as with the US Drug Enforcement Agency.
The American Council Of Independent Laboratories (Acil) represents independent, commercial scientific and engineering firms.
Its members are professional services firms engaged in testing, product certification, consulting, and research and development.
Affiliated membership is available to manufacturers, laboratories, consultants, and suppliers to the industry and related trade associations.
