Compatible with latest generation capillary rheometers, haul-off measurement apparatus incorporates device for neat collection and storage of the extrudate
Bohlin Instruments has introduced a melt tension or 'haul off' measurement apparatus that incorporates an automated spooling device for neat collection and storage of the extrudate. The new device is compatible with Bohlin's latest generation of Rosand capillary rheometers - the RH7D and the RH10D - and can be operated directly from the Rosand Flowmaster software.
The automatic spooling feature avoids any tangling which might occur at high take up rates on a conventional 'pinch' roller system.
Interchangeable spools also allow easy management of extruded samples for other measurements such as tensile testing. Moving parts are shielded by a transparent guard for operator safety.
A further advantage of the apparatus is its exceptionally wide operating range and versatility.
Melt take up speeds can be set at up to 2000 metres per minute with a dynamic range in speed of 100,000:1.
Melt tension is measurable down to 0.005 grams.
If required, the unit can be used in conjunction with the Rosand post extrusion oven, which provides a temperature controlled environment below the extrusion die.
