Advanced Chemistry Development, (ACD/Labs) announces the donation of a site license subscription to ACD/Labs Online to the University of Michigan's School of Engineering department
This donation will be of significant use to the pharmaceutical engineering programme which is the first graduate degree granting programme in pharmaceutical engineering in North America.
Online is an internet-based service that enables instant access to chemical databases and property predictions programs.
Students and instructors will be able to calculate, through an internet web interface, NMR Spectra (1H, 13C, 15N, 19F, and 31P NMR), physicochemical properties (pKa, logP, logD, and solubility at various pH values, boiling points, and more), and generate IUPAC and CAS Index systematic names.
Professor Henry Wang, chemical engineering and college of engineering, states: "With ACD/Labs Online we will have full access to prediction algorithms and databases via an Internet service, and will be able to determine logP, pKa, and other parameters of organic molecules".
"Both our instructors and students found these programs very useful in their homework assignments and will benefit from the enhanced learning opportunities".
"We appreciate ACD/Labs long standing commitment to the University of Michigan by providing future scientists with access to the most current industry-standard software tools." ACD/Labs Online will be used by the students to help them understand the role of physicochemical property prediction software in the drug development process.
The students and instructors involved in the course will have instant access to the ACD/Labs Online service 24 hours a day from every computer on campus.
This will give students and instructors the ability to obtain predicted physiochemical property values for a wide number of parameters without having to install the software locally.
