Reed Life Sciences announces the launch of the PharmaMedDevice conference and exhibition to help life science companies accelerate the innovation of next-generation combination products
PharmaMedDevice will provide the only inclusive forum in which converging medical device, pharmaceutical, and biologic companies can expand industry knowledge while sourcing technologies to gain first-to-market advantages in pioneering product innovation.
The inaugural event will be co-located with Interphex, 23-25 April 2007, at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
The global market for drug/device combinations, which are defined as combinations of two or more regulated components, was valued at nearly $6 billion in 2004.
It is expected to grow upwards of 14 percent per year through 2010.
Additionally, research shows that nearly 30 percent of R+D spending in the drug industry is dedicated to combination products.
PharmaMedDevice will showcase a range of state-of-the-art technologies from industry-leading medical device suppliers and service providers that will help to advance the commercialization of life-enhancing combination products, such as cardiovascular drug-eluting stents, novel orthopedic implants and implantable insulin pumps.
"As medical devices and pharmaceuticals continue to merge, the medical community is looking to combination products to enter, develop, and grow new markets".
"These innovative products also provide manufacturers with an opportunity for extended patent protection," says Christine Ford, event director.
"PharmaMedDevice provides the only opportunity for industry professionals to create partnerships, source real-world technologies and gain insight on regulatory issues - all in one place".
"Our co-location with Interphex provides a solid foundation for cross-collaboration between industries - with our existing audience providing great value to the new event we are creating." PharmaMedDevice has partnered with FDC Reports, publishers of the Gray Sheet, the Pink Sheet, and the Silver Sheet, to produce a market-leading conference programme.
The programme will address the unique regulatory challenges that combination products face and offer solutions for navigating the FDA application process.
Other areas that will be spotlighted include partnering and contractual issues, best manufacturing processes, stability testing and labeling concerns.
Other PharmaMedDevice sponsors include Medical Design Technology, Medical Product Outsourcing, Orthopedic Design and Technology, and the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA).
