BVCPS is now offering a range of footwear tests including physical performance tests, chemical tests, wear tests and EN71 novelty slipper tests
Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (BVCPS) is investing in footwear testing capabilities with the opening of a new UK footwear testing laboratory on its existing site in Leicester.
The new laboratory will enable BVCPS to provide its customers with a number of innovative footwear testing services including whole shoe tests, fit assessments and customer complaint assessments.
Over the next few months this new UK laboratory will be joined by specialised footwear testing facilities in the Far East and Germany, enabling BVCPS to provide its customers with a truly global footwear testing service.
New appointee, Jack Brown, will be responsible for managing the UK laboratory and opening similar facilities in Europe and the Far East during 2006.
Jack joins BVCPS with 28 years experience in the footwear industry, latterly being responsible for the quality of Scholl branded footwear during his role as International Quality Manager at SSL International.
Having worked closely with many of the world's leading footwear brands on all major quality and technical issues during his career, Jack will bring a wealth of industry knowledge to his new role.
The new shoe testing facility will offer a range of footwear tests including physical performance tests, chemical tests, wear tests and EN71 novelty slipper tests, with the over all promise of providing its customers with a cost effective way to improve quality.
A quick, user-friendly, fixed price testing service will be made available at the new facility for the first time, providing tests and reports on all major areas of concern on a whole shoe.
In addition to the wide range of global footwear services previously outlined by BVCPS, this new facility enables the company to provide new services including training, returns measurement, range reviews and risk assessment, consultancy and conformance to essential EU requirements.
Jack Brown comments: "The proactive testing of materials, components and finished footwear is the only effective way to improve quality, reduce customer complaints and ensure all products sold are safe, legal and of high quality".
"This new facility will provide BVCPS' customers with peace of mind that they are bringing to market the best possible quality shoes and continues the company's policy of providing a truly global service with the introduction of a similar Far East facility."
