Biotrace International, a manufacturer and distributor of industrial and medical microbiology products, has acquired Fred Baker Scientific, forming a new company Biotrace Fred Baker
A supplier of specialist microbiology and life science products, Runcorn-based Fred Baker Scientific (FBS) will maintain its existing business, offering a comprehensive range of laboratory equipment and pre-prepared culture media throughout the UK.
The company says "it will therefore be 'business as usual' for our customers, who will continue to enjoy the highest level of sales and service support." The current FBS product range includes Ruskinn anaerobic workstations, media preparation systems, IUL automated food microbiology products and Falcon tissue culture ware from Becton-Dickinson.
The company also manufactures a range of pre-prepared culture media which is widely used for environmental monitoring in the pharmaceutical industry.
With state of the art facilities, it produces and supplies products to cGMP standards and is the only manufacturing site in Europe to be accredited by the Pharmaceutical Suppliers Code of Practice.
FBS's founder, the eponymous Fred Baker, has retired from the business and his fellow co-founders, John Cobb and Peter Roberts, are joint managing directors of Biotrace Fred Baker and continue to run the business.
The acquisition of FBS further expands Biotrace International's healthcare business and this major new partnership combines technical leadership and product excellence, positioning Biotrace Fred Baker as one of the UK's leading suppliers of innovative microbiology and life science products.
