IDBS embeds Quantrix modelling software as quantitative knowledge engine in chemical and biological research software
Quantrix reports that IDBS, a provider of integrated software solutions to the life sciences industry, has entered into an agreement to use Quantrix Modeler as a component in the development of new software products for scientific analysis and research.
Quantrix Modeler is a desktop quantitative modeling software application that goes beyond traditional spreadsheet technology to enable professionals to develop models in greater depth and from multiple perspectives while improving productivity, accuracy, and auditability.
The new version of Quantrix Modeler, released in May 2006, incorporates an application programming interface that enables OEM software developers such as IDBS to create software applications using Quantrix Modeler's multidimensional modeling capabilities.
IDBS researchers are extending and deploying Quantrix Modeler capabilities to enable scientific professionals to analyze data in a multidimensional format.
"Our customers manage complex data.
"Quantrix Modeler provides the analytical capabilities that meet many of our requirements to pivot and examine the data from a lot of different angles, apply structured logic and perform calculations," says Glyn Williams, VP of marketing and management, IDBS.
"We selected Quantrix Modeler after extensive market review".
Quantrix Modeler includes an application programming interface (QAPI) that allows end users to extend the functionality of the product.
The latest release, Quantrix Modeler version 2.1, incorporates an extended version of this API for OEM developers.
"Solution developers such as IDBS can enhance their applications by embedding our analytical modeling technology, and their end users can access all of the functionality of Quantrix Modeler seamlessly within these applications," says Peter Murray, chief technical officer, Quantrix.
IDBS is using the Quantrix API (QAPI) to embed Quantrix Modeler in its applications for chemical and biological research.
IDBS's software, data management, and scientific analysis experience in combination with Quantrix Modeler's multidimensional and quantitative modeling capabilities, provides researchers with unique ways to manage the entire life cycle of a complex experiment.
"Quantrix is the engine used to analyse the data that researchers get from instruments and observations," says Williams.
"Quantrix Modeler allows users to view and represent data from many different perspectives, quickly and easily." Quantrix Modeler incorporates a unique approach that separates the logic of a model from the structure, which allows users to create and use formulas outside the confines of the cell.
Formulas are expressed in words rather than by cell coordinates so they are easy to understand, trace, and audit.
Users can make changes, incorporate new dimensions, and view multiple scenarios dynamically without redesigning or reworking their model.
Quantrix API (QAPI) allows third-party developers to embed Quantrix into their software applications.
