Malvern participates in International School on Biological Crystallization with lecture on 'Protein sizing by light scattering, molecular weight and polydispersity' by Ulf Nobbmann
'Protein sizing by light scattering, molecular weight and polydispersity' was the topic of a lecture given by Dr Ulf Nobbmann of Malvern Instruments as part of an intensive and varied program of presentations and practical training sessions at the International School on Biological Crystallization in Granada, Spain from 22-26 May 2006.
The five day event, organized by the Laboratorio de Estudios Cristalographicos, (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas and University of Granada), was intended for postgraduate and postdoctoral students as well as for research scientists from industry and academia.
It focused on the fundamentals of crystallization from solutions, and its application in crystallizing biological materials.
Lectures and practical demonstrations from a large number of individuals and organizations covered work on the crystallization of biological molecules, drugs, small molecule biological compounds, polymorphic precipitation, biominerals and biomimetic materials.
Nobbmann said: "Malvern's Zetasizer Nano is widely used in protein crystallization studies and we are very pleased to support this type of education and training.
"The format of the school was novel.
"In particular, the practical demonstrations, which were conducted by people who are experts in their field, were especially interesting and lively.
"I hope we will have the opportunity to be involved in future events."
