"He joins us at a time when our industry is working closely with customers to meet the measurement challenges presented by third-generation mobile phones and new, more powerful wireless communications networks".
Commenting on his appointment, Mike Slade said: "I am pleased to be joining Agilent's Assurance Solutions team, the world leader in operational support systems for the telecommunications industry".
"I am looking forward to working with my colleagues to continue to build Agilent's reputation for excellence in the industry - network test has never been more important to telecoms operators than it is now, given the complexity of the new systems being introduced to handle 3G services."
