Agilent Technologies has launched a new series of gas chromatograph/mass spectrometers (GC/MS) that builds on the high levels of reliability, productivity and performance of flagship 5975 instruments
The Agilent 5975B Series MSD offers users new software tools and additional options for integrated autosamplers.
A new oil-free vacuum pump enhances productivity by significantly reducing the need for maintenance.
"The new 5975B lets customers tailor the innovative 5975 platform to their workflows in a number of highly useful ways," said Sihem Ben Mahmoud, Agilent product manager.
"Last year we introduced a GC/MS platform, which performs full-scan and selected ion monitoring (SIM) analyses synchronously, with software that automatically creates a SIM method from a scan method.
"It also permits the exchange of methods electronically across multiple, far-flung labs.
"Now we're extending this performance through enhanced software, choice of autosampler and oil-free vacuum pump".
The Agilent 5975B Series MSD is available now.
New automation option: the Agilent 5975B GC/MS is fully compatible not only with the Agilent 7683 ALS, the world's most widely used autosampler for GC, but also with CTC Analytics's Combipal and GC Pal automated sample injectors.
The new edition of the Agilent GC/MS ChemStation software seamlessly integrates the CTC sample injectors for unsurpassed speed, efficiency and flexibility.
The same autosampler can perform liquid, headspace and SPME injections.
Agilent also offers CTC-recommended consumables such as: headspace and magnetic caps, autosampler syringes, vials and caps and well-plate sample trays and closing mats.
Agilent's 5975B series MSD is the first GC/MS system to offer the SemiQuant feature, an easy, fast and automated way to estimate the concentration of non-calibrated compounds in samples.
This estimation can be based on the response for a similar compound such as a homolog or congener.
It can also be performed when a standard is unavailable and the user wants to make a provisional estimate based on another compound.
Users can convert an entire method to a SemiQuant method, or SemiQuant compounds can be added to any method.
The platform also offers a new suite of software-productivity tools to simplify method setup, instrument maintenance and data processing.
