The UK Submarine Escape Training Tank, based in Gosport, is probably one of the most harsh environments in which to trial the Analox Sub MKIIP, submarine escape monitor
The UK Submarine Escape Training Tank's escape locks are small and cramped with equipment likely to be prone to knocks, the atmosphere is warm and humid - not commonly recognised as ideal for electronic instrumentation.
So it was of great interest to Analox to see how the Sub MKIIP fared.
The Sub MKIIP was used over a period of three months, in the 9m and 30m locks during routine escape training.
Brian Wood, of Submarine Escape Training Tank (Sett) summarises: "The monitor functioned extremely well in the conditions we imposed upon it, which included rapid pressurisation, explosive decompression and rapid temperature changes up to 32C at varying depths down to 30m."
