ABgene launches the latest additions to its SmartScan biostorage range, the 2ml 2D CryoCode tube and also the smaller 0.3ml SmartScan tube, available loose or in racks
Just one unidentified sample tube per researcher per year could amount to over 350,000 unidentified samples in labs worldwide in a 12 month period.
Damaged identification, poor labelling or misplaced referencing are just some of the reasons for sample integrity to be lost.
To help counter this, ABgene, a provider of molecular biology reagents, plastic consumables and instrumentation, launches the latest additions to its SmartScan biostorage range, the 2ml 2D CryoCode tube and also the smaller 0.3ml SmartScan tube, available loose or in racks.
The 2D barcoded tubes are moulded from virgin polypropylene and manufactured on site at ABgene's own ISO 9000 cleanroom facility.
All tubes feature the SmartScan 2D bar coding system, which facilitates the automatic tracking and identification of samples.
With over 3.6 quadrillion unique codes available, the codes are laser etched and encapsulated into the base of each tube, using a patented technique to prevent the possibility of damage from chemical and physical resistance, or from abrasion.
Any of these factors could cause the code to be lost.
HIBCC coded versions of the tubes are also available.
The tubes and racks form part of ABgene's complete biostorage suite of products, which includes the new automated cap application and removal device, Alto-8, and the SmartScan range of racks, caps, and readers.
