Aperio Technologies has expanded its operations in Europe with the opening of a new and larger operations centre in Bristol, UK, and the appointment of Peter Rogan to lead its European sales efforts
Aperio's new UK offices, located at the Sanctuary in Eden Office Park, will serve as a base of operations for sales, marketing, and business development activities throughout Europe, and will allow Aperio to meet the growing demand for digital pathology in Europe's progressive pathology laboratories.
"We see a burgeoning need for digital pathology around the world.
"As the leader in digital pathology, we are committed to offering this exciting technology to the finest teaching hospitals, research facilities, and pharmaceutical companies throughout Europe,' said Dirk Soenksen, CEO of Aperio Technologies.
"We are also very pleased that Peter Rogan has joined our team to head Aperio's European operations.
"His extensive experience in microscopy and imaging equipment will be a great asset to our company".
Prior to joining Aperio as European sales director, Rogan spent 18 years at Olympus UK, a manufacturer of professional opto-digital products in the fields of microscopy and imaging.
While at Olympus, he was responsible for directing the overall business development initiatives for the company's microscopy division, in addition to other important sales and marketing functions.
Rogan commented about his new appointment: "I look forward to working with the Aperio team to help pathology laboratories throughout Europe adopt this new technology.
"Digital pathology is transforming the way that pathologists capture, view, manage, share, and analyse pathology information.
"Aperio's digital pathology systems and services improve a pathologist's efficiency and productivity across many fronts, making people's lives easier and better.
"It is rewarding to be a part of that".
Since the company's incorporation in 1999, Aperio has installed approximately 200 digital pathology systems in 16 countries worldwide.
Aperio's European customer base includes several renowned healthcare, pharmaceutical, and educational organizations throughout the region.
These include AstraZeneca, Novartis International and Leeds University in the UK, the University of Zurich in Switzerland, Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden, and Sanofi Aventis Histologie Moleculaire in France.
