The Scottish chemical industry has called on all political parties to help deliver growth throughout the sector.
Members companies have set out a three point agenda for energy, regulation and skills, which has been delivered through the ‘Advantage Scotland’ scheme.
We want to work with government and politicians of all parties as well as other stakeholders to build the future of Scotland’s chemical and pharmaceutical industry
CIA chief executive Steve Elliott
Following the agenda would allow industry to continue to make products and technology advances. It would also help deliver medicines, food and communications, the Chemical Industry Association (CIA) said.
CIA chief executive Steve Elliott said: “I hope Scotland can take advantage of the enormous opportunities offered by shale gas, and show how current environmental regulation is working.
Scotland must also promote the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths subjects and careers, Elliott added.
“We want to work with government and politicians of all parties as well as other stakeholders to build the future of Scotland’s chemical and pharmaceutical industry,” he said.
