Lamy Rheology has produced an application file to illustrate the use of their ALL IN ONE rheometer for analysing the rheological properties of acrylic and oil-based paints.
Lamy Rheology Instruments has used their ALL IN ONE rheometer in conjunction with the MS-DIN35 measuring system and Peltier AIR-AIR temperature control, to assess the properties of acrylic and oil-based paints.
Because these paints have different rheological properties, an easy identification of their behaviour, based on shear rate, means that their formulations can be perfected so that users will find them easy to use without dripping.
Flow curves produced for the two paints using Lamy’s Rheomatic-P software clearly show the different properties of the two paints and indicate how shear-thinning behaviour affects paint application.
Full details of the study can be found by downloading the application file here, as well as an additional application file covering plastic viscosity and yield value measurements on coating chocolates.
