Bellingham + Stanley’s new ADP450 polarimeter uses patented XPC technology to control the temperature of optically active samples during polarimeter measurement.
Polarimeters are instruments that can be used to calculate the solution concentrations of optically active fluids by measuring the angle of rotation of polarised light as it passes through the sample. Bellingham + Stanley, a Xylem brand have launched their new polarimeter, the ADP450 polarimeter, which utilises their patented XPC technology, an on-board Peltier temperature control system. This permits reliable and accurate temperature control of the optically active sample during polarised light penetration and rotation measurement, ideal for measuring substances such as peptides, sugars and volatile oils.
The ADP450 is capable of measuring up to 3.0 OD at 589nm over a maximum tube length of 200mm. It offers three decimal place precision to an accuracy of ±0.01 °Angular making it perfect for general purpose use in food, fragrance, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as within academia and research. The instrument’s simple ‘Methods’ system easily permits new “single-shot” or continual measurement of optical rotation or related parameters such as specific rotation, concentration or inversion. The new full colour 4” (10cm) high definition display means results are clearly visible and over 8000 measurements, as well as a record of the instrument’s configuration, may be stored, viewed and output to LIMS or Secure PDF.
With password protection for calibration and configuration of the instrument, accessible by keypad entry or a convenient fully configurable RFID tag and an audit trail, the ADP450 is perfect for environments conforming to FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11 or GLP.
In addition to the ADP450, Bellingham + Stanley’s ADP400 Series, also includes the ADP430 that incorporates all the features and benefits of the ADP450 but without XPC technology. The ADP430 is therefore perfect for optically active samples or chiral compounds where a waterbath or similar automatic temperature compensation is to be used or no temperature control is required.
