There will be a party atmosphere at Lab Innovations this year as SciMed Ltd celebrates its 40th anniversary.
SciMed Ltd, formerly Scientific and Medical Products Ltd, is celebrating 40th anniversary as a distributor of laboratory equipment with bunting, party bags and cake on stand G19. Founded in 1979 in South Manchester, the company now has 27 employees to look after products from 26 suppliers from around the world.
Products available from SciMed Ltd include lab-scale pressure vessels from Parr Instrument Company, XRF and XRD spectrometers from Rigaku and Brookfield viscometers. Managing Director John Booth said “I have been with SciMed for most of our 40 years and each year we have a new offering for our customers. This keeps SciMed at the forefront of technological advancements in the field of analytical instrumentation.
In the past year, we have added a high performance, Hi-resolution benchtop SEM from Hirox Europe. Thanks to our demo unit, we can show customers what is possible using a technique that until recently required a dedicated room and technician. It is these new products from our established brands, coupled with our enthusiastic and technical team that has allowed us to achieve a turnover last year of just under £10m.”
