Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) has been named best supplier in the ‘Best Cost Saving Initiative’ category at Newcastle University’s prestigious ‘Excellent Supplier and Contractor Event 2019’.
Awards were made across only seven categories, with SLS the only laboratory supplier nominated across the board. The ‘Best Cost Saving Initiative’ is awarded to the supplier that has delivered significant cost savings or cost avoidance as a direct result of a project, initiative, intervention or way of working. SLS was cited for being extremely supportive and accommodating during Brexit preparations. The company identified products that Newcastle University uses the most and ring-fenced and stored them at no extra cost to the university. This ensured a stockpile of essential products, at guaranteed prices in the event of post Brexit disruption.
Gary Morton CMIOSH CBCI, Health, Safety and Business Continuity Manager for Newcastle University said: “SLS has always provided excellent customer service for the university. Most recently, however, they really went the extra mile with Brexit planning – providing great reassurance that the university will be able to maintain essential services for student and staff thanks to SLS.”
Keith Robinson, Territory Sales Manager at SLS said: “Newcastle University is a really important customer for SLS and to be the only laboratory supplier to have won an award is an amazing accolade. The University has more than 8,000 suppliers across the board, so that speaks volumes.”
