Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) and the Science Council have announced the cancellation of the Scientific Laboratory Show and Conference, due to take place on May 20th 2020 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.
The UK’s biggest laboratory show and conference was expected to attract more than 1400 visitors in addition to 70-plus exhibitors, Science Council member bodies and SLS personnel. After careful consultation and considering the development of the virus in the UK and Europe it was decided to cancel the event.
Joshua Chapman, Marketing Director (SLS), said: “I am gutted to have to make this decision after seeing 12 months of organisation from the dedicated show team, the Science Council and our suppliers go into planning this multi-faceted event. But this is a decision we must make to prioritise our customers, staff and suppliers’ health and wellbeing following extensive consultation with the relevant authorities. We will be back in 2022, bigger and better than ever!”
Jane Banks, External Relationships Manager at the Science council added: “ It is very disappointing to have to cancel the Show knowing what an outstanding event it was shaping up to be. In the light of the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19 this is, however, the only sensible course of action. The Science Council very much looks forward to working with the SLS Show and our member bodies in 2022.”
